Last Monday is kinda a big day for me. It’s my first time ever shooting a fashion campaign outside the studio. I am totally nervous, because anything can go wrong at any second when you’re shooting outdoor. From the weather to any equipment malfunction.
We are blessed with beautiful weather that day after a rainy day a day before. And I am excited. Working with Michelle Koesnadi (www.glistersandblisters.com) as the stylist and Lizzie Parra (www.lizzieparra.com) as the make-up artist we tried to pull the day. And they both ROCK! The styling and the make-up are just awesome! :D
And I guess, we did some decent job that day :) I myself tried some different approach for the photos, my personal favorite composition for lighting and else, and some of the people who have saw the results said that the photos are mellow and kinda old mature. :p
This is out of the camera result. No digital imaging was done. :) I will post more photos when the campaign is out :)
Sincerely,
Raynata
This is one of my latest works. It feels really good to be back at the studio and do some lookbook shots :) This time, I tried a lot of new things, new sets of lighting, new sets of background and a whole new concept for the lookbook.
One of the greatest feeling is to be working with the people who will grow with you from one project to another, and I feel that way with this team. It’s an amazing journey, and we’re still heading towards our dream, one step at a time.
More shots will come when the brand have published their lookbook :D
Model: Bianca
Stylist: Michelle Koesnadi
Art Director: Yessi Kusumo and Randy Wahyudi Sastra
After quite awhile being away from the studio, I am really happy to be back! This is one of my favorite shot from the day :)
There is something familiar with you, something that feels nostalgic for a love that hasn’t even happened yet.
There’s a saying that life isn’t measured by the number of breaths that you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
And one of that precious moment in my life is when that Video Mapping in the video above was projected. At the time when that video mapping was showed, that projection was the 1st in 3D and was the biggest ever done in Indonesia. :) I am really proud to be the project leader for it :)
It started when I was working at UPH as a lecturer. I got the assignment to take part in the annual UPH Festival. From one meeting to another meeting, then, there’s this meeting that talked about the closing ceremony. Usually, we did the fireworks, but at that meeting, I brush up my heart to ask them to do me a favor, to do something different that year. I told the team (who consist of the senior lecturers, dean, director and I myself just a junior lecturer on his first year) about this video mapping and showed them the 1st project of video mapping in Kota Tua not so long ago.
Later on, they ask me to find the vendors, from the projector, the artistic team, director and propose the budget to them. And the budget is 3 times the usual fireworks gig. They declined the idea at the 1st place because of the budget. But, the marketing division and some generous sponsors make us get the budget that we needed to make this happens. The game is on!
But it happened, that we have a very narrow window of time to make this happen. From measuring inch by inch of the actual building who will be projected, making the storyboard, preparing the logistics, etc. For that video mapping, the people from SEMBILAN MATAHARI made everything by themselves, from the visual, the 3D motion to the scoring!
*random fact: most of the team members are architecture graduates, even the person who compose the scoring is an Architecture graduate*
We try to pull everything a week before that faithful day. Preparing the venue, adjusting the projector, refining and synchronizing the visual and the audio. And the beauty of it, we can only do the “rehearsal” when everyone is fall asleep (means at 2 in the morning), 3 consecutive windy nights at the football field. It was fun, crazy and thrilling at the same time (everything can go wrong anytime).
And that faithful day came. With all the publication at the internet, national newspaper and local news, thousand of people are curious what will happened at 7PM on that football field. And the first problem occurred, the weather. Rain was pouring through the evening and gladly couple hours from the gig, the rain was stopped. But that rain had taken its toll, one projector was broken down and some of them need to be re-adjusted, just in couple of hours! We freaked out and tried everything that we can to make that happen, that is one of the longest hours in my life! And the other crazy idea that we pulled that day is to have a live video feed for that video mapping! We have to pull 50 meters of LAN Cable to our server across that football field and crazily, the IT Dept want to help us!
At 6PM we are LIVE! Everything was set on place, hopefully everything will go just fine. At 7PM around 2500 people was filling that football field. And the show is on! That 10minutes of show went really well, we got a massive applause and cheers! It’s one of the craziest moments in my life, I shed some tears with the entire team for the closing ceremony division, from the artistic team, the IT dept, the security, the engineering division, marketing :) It feels really great. An evening with a show that gives you 2500++ happy smiling faces. It’s a priceless experience.
Couple weeks ago, I was reminded about winning as a team, at a seminar called “SHOW AND TELL with AXIOO and EDWARD SUHADI PRODUCTION”. My mind flew to this particular moment when they shared their story about winning as a team, about working as a family. How the work and grew as a family in their office. It’s just beautiful. This post was dedicated to them :)
Hopefully, I can get the luxury for another chance to learn and work in place where everyone is trying to win as a team, where everyone grows as a family. :)
Sincerely,
Raynata
I have planned to post this work for quite awhile, but one and another thing happened and I only be able to post this now. It is the wedding of Richard and Karin, a beautiful and sophisticated couple. This couple is really fun to shoot, they never hold themselves back, just show how they feel along the day. And happiness is contagious indeed :D Their personality, their cheerfulness really shape that day to be the perfect start for their happily ever after.
I am working as the 2nd shooter here, working along with Bernardo Halim from Lighthouse Photography. It has been a great experience :)
Sincerely,
Raynata
Shooting wedding on a crazy Friday morning in Jakarta. Beating the traffic at the center of the city when everyone is rushing to their workplace. On that kind of occasion, there is quite a chance for anyone that took part on that particular day to be cranky and lost their mood. But surprisingly it didn’t happen to this couple, Ivan-Amanda. They smiled all the way, from the beginning to the end of the day. I had so much fun shooting their wedding. It was a small wedding, and I always love to shoot intimate wedding.
In this wedding I was the wingman for Bernardo Halim from Lighthouse photography. It was a great experience :)
sincerely,
Raynata
Here I am shooting wedding again with my dear friend Bernardo Halim from Lighthouse Photography. Sometimes, I helped them as a freelance photographer to shoot some wedding day. It was a nice day, with a gorgeous looking couple and tons of fun!
Hope you like the photos :)

This my the first time shooting wedding in Surabaya for my cousin’s wedding. It is a very lovely wedding, and there are a lot of beautiful moments through the days :) It is very intimate wedding, a hundred of guests but filled with countless joy :)
My favorite moments in this wedding is the dance. You can see through the pictures, how Kathleen is sincerely happy to be the bride that day, how happy her dad is to have the 1st dance with his daughter. And of course, you can see through the groom eyes, how he really loves the bride in that moment :)
It’s a great day, with a beautiful weather, with tons of happy moments, spectacular performer and one happy couple with the one day for their happily ever after.
It always feels good you know, to shoot a wedding where you can really say that the couple really cherish each other. And I can say how they really cherish each other. From the beginning of the ceremony to the very end, between their tight schedule for their honeymoon getaway, they smile their way through the days. And we really wish that they will smile through their marriage life.
Wishing them nothing but happiness.
sincerely,
Raynata
This lovely couple grows their love through some extraordinary days. They spent most of their time in different cities, and they grow their commitment for each other while going the distance. I believe that most of you won’t believe that those kind of long distance relationship will really work. But they showed us that love CAN INDEED going the distance.
Now, they are happily married in Pontianak :) And we are really happy for them about it. We will post their wedding photos too somewhere in this month :) just wait for more photos :)
We enjoyed our session with this playful couple. And the weather also really lovely :) We really hope that you will lke the photos :)
sincerely,
Raynata
I always love to shoot this kind of wedding. Filled with tons of details. And you can always feel how sacred a marriage is through the series of ceremony. It is a fine sunny day of December, and I am shooting this event by myself. And somehow, I am really honored to be a part of this family’s event. It feels so warm, and the light is beautiful.
Sincerely,
Raynata
